Handicraft clubs

 

Handicraft clubs are long-term course packages. Registration for the clubs take place through the Taitokeskus that organizes the course. The club fee is 14 € per session + the material fee according to usage. You can also participate with our organization’s handicraft passport (105 € a year) up to 8 times without a fee. You can acquire your craft passport from Taitokeskus Joensuu.

Kässä – Crafting school for children and youth

General Studies 1–4 (for ages 7–11): Every Wednesday from 3 Sept, 15.30–17.15.
General Studies and Thematic Studies (for ages 12–17): Every Wednesday from 3 Sept, 17.30–19.15.

At Kässä, children and young people aged 7–17 receive instruction in crafts in accordance with the General Syllabus for Basic Education in the Arts. The school year begins in September for the autumn term and at the turn of January–February for the spring term. New students are placed in groups based on their age and skill level.

Term fees: General Studies 1–6: 75 € + materials 45 €.
Autumn break: Week 42.

Aiku – Crafting school for adults

The instruction follows the General Syllabus for Basic Education in the Arts. The aim is to learn various crafts and techniques through insight, interaction, and an experimental and questioning approach to working.

Term fee: 155 € + materials.
Adults aged 18 and over are welcome to participate.

You can choose between two groups with identical content — select the one that best fits your schedule.

Aiku 1
Opening sessions: Fri 5 Sept, 17.00–20.30, and Sat 6 Sept, 10.00–13.30.
Following sessions: 3–4 Oct, 7–8 Nov, and 12–13 Dec.

Aiku 2
Opening sessions: Fri 12 Sept, 17.00–20.30, and Sat 13 Sept, 10.00–13.30.
Following sessions: 10–11 Oct, 20–21 Nov, and 19–20 Dec.

 

 

Taito Senior Club

(Every Wed starting 17 Sept 2025, 10.00–13.00)
In the senior handicraft club, participants enjoy a cup of coffee and cheerful company while exploring new ideas and techniques in handicrafts. The club meets in the course classroom on the second floor of Tiilitalo.

(Every Thu starting 18 Sept 2025, 10.00–13:00)
In the senior handicraft club, participants enjoy a cup of coffee and cheerful company while exploring new ideas and techniques in handicrafts. The club meets in the course classroom on the second floor of Tiilitalo.

Spinning Club

(Last Thursday of each month starting 28 Aug 2025, 17.00–20.00)
The Spinning Club meets on the last Thursday of each month starting 30 Jan 2025. In this club the participants learn to card wool by hand and with a drum carder, and to spin with a spindle and spinning wheel, using various wools and fibres. The club meets in the course classroom on the second floor of Tiilitalo.
